REM’s Academic Programs
The School of Resource and Environmental Management (REM) is one of the first multidisciplinary graduate programs in resource management to have been developed in Canada. We are distinguished from many other programs by having internationally recognized research teams in both the social sciences and the natural sciences. This is reflected in the broad range of high quality courses offered in both the social and natural sciences. The program workload is heavier than many others; In addition to multidisciplinary coursework, students must complete a rigorous major research project. These student research projects frequently result in publications in high quality international journals.
REM offers interdisciplinary programs that lead to: a Graduate Diploma in Quantitative Methods in Fisheries Management, a Master’s degree (M.R.M.) in Resource and Environmental Management, and a Ph.D. degree in Resource and Environmental Management. REM also offers a Master’s degree in Resource and Environmental Management (Planning), which is certified by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
