Cooperative Education
REM's graduate Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program provides
opportunities for students to work in government or private
resource management organizations to gain professional experience
in applied problem solving. REM Co-op students, because of
their background and Master's or Ph.D.-level training, bring
high-level skills to their positions. Participation in the
Co-op program is optional but in many cases this type of
professional employment can include work that is closely
related to a student's research project. Co-op experience can
also lead directly to employment upon graduation.
Several past REM graduate students working in the area of
fisheries science and management have done Co-op work
terms in agencies such as:
- Environment Canada
- Canada Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- B.C. Hydro
- B.C. Ministry of Forests
- B.C. Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture
