Opportunities for Student Research

Sustainable Aquaculture Project

Research opportunities for researching sustainable aquaculture in temperate climates are available.

·        MRM opportunities – funded MRM positions are available commencing Fall 2010 and Fall 2011.

·        PhD opportunity – funded PhD position is available commencing Fall 2010.

Other Research


Upcoming research activities that might be available to incoming students, but with no funding at present, include:

·        Tibetan pastoralist attitudes towards environmental risks on the Tibetan Plateau, China

·        Economics of land degradation or community-based wildlife management

·        Bioeconomic modeling of fisheries and environmental influences, including Black Sea applications

·        Social capital and conservation in developing country communities

·        Analysis of the invasive species problem and its impact on production

·        Valuing migratory species, such as waterfowl in Europe and Africa

·        Modeling aquaculture technology and incentives for sustainable production

 

Note that most of this research takes an economic perspective, with possibly an integrated or ecological economics focus.
